Pre-Kindergarten | | Program
A well-balanced program is offered that nurtures the physical, intellectual, social
and spiritual growth of our four and five year old children. It is a positive
first-school experience in preparation for kindergarten the following year.

Curriculum
The curriculum includes
Bible, readiness skills in reading, math, and writing as well as language and
listening skills. Alphabet letter and sounds along with numbers and counting are
introduced. Art, music, social and movement activities are also provided.
Entrance Guidelines
All children must
be at least four years of age by December 1st. However, it is strongly recommended
that a child be at least four years of age by September 1st. Children who
are five but not quite ready for a kindergarten program are welcome.
-
Children must be fully toilet trained and able to care for toilet needs on their
own.
- Legally students must be fully immunized and have a physical in the
last year to enroll. Immunization and physical forms must have a doctor's signature.
Schedule
The pre-kindergarten schedule is from
8:30 to 11:30 am. Parents may choose a three-day program (Monday, Wednesday, and
Friday) or a two-day program (Tuesday and Thursday). The two and three day programs
cover the same curriculum material.
Younger four year olds may be more
comfortable with two days, while older four and five year olds may be able to
handle three days a week. If there are specific needs (more days, full days, or
time adjustments) we will try to accommodate you, please contact the school office.
Transportation
Parents must provide transportation
for children who are not five years old by December 1st.
Enrollment
Receipt of your application along with the application fee will hold a place in
our kindergarten class, as class size is limited. Final acceptance will be determined
after a developmental screening and receipt of the physical, immunization, and
emergency forms.

Our Kindergarten Program
Kindergarten students attend a full day program which begins at 8:05 am. The children
are taught curriculum subjects - Bible, reading, math, writing, science, and social
studies. They also attend classes in art, music, physical education and have recess.
The students have lunch, recess, rest time, and participate in enrichment activities
(literature, computers, library, art, and play activities) until dismissal at
2:45 pm.

Reading
Our reading
program is based on a phonetic approach. After learning letters and sounds students
blend letters to read words and sentences. Older children (five before September
1st) do better in a kindergarten reading program. We strongly recommend that younger
children (those not five by September 1st) wait a year or attend our pre-kindergarten.
Entrance Screening
In order to make
kindergarten a valuable and successful experience developmental screening is given
to determine school readiness. Entrance is based on a developmental age and not
chronological age. A screening appointment is made soon after the receipt of your
application. The screening takes about 20 minutes and results will be discussed
with parent(s). Note: A screening fee is due by the time of the screening.
Transportation
Bus transportation
is available by contacting your local school district. The deadline for submitting
transportation applications to your school district is April 1st. It is very
important that you specify half or full day on your application so that proper
transportation arrangements can be made.
Physical
Examination and Immunization
Legally students must be fully immunized
and have a doctor's signature.
Enrollment
Receipt of your application with the $35 application payment will hold a place
in our kindergarten class, as class size is limited. Final acceptance will be
determined after a developmental screening and receipt of the physical, immunization,
and emergency forms.
